Insurance Agencies Chicago

Danny Said:

Just opened my own insurance agency in Chicago....?

We Answered:

I've been in the insurance business for over 29 years now. Good luck to you. It's not easy.
If you're sitting around waiting for the phones to ring quit now. The best thing you can do is put in some "sweat equity". Get on the phone and call, call, call. Telemarketing has a bad reputation now but it works better then anything else. Don't be afraid to put in some long hours.
Go to your local library and pull up a copy of the commercial record and find out who's moved into your area and call them.
Finally, get a copy of the book "Power Position Your Agency" by Troy Korsgaden. It's well worth reading

Where can my fiancee get financial assistance for medical bills?

We Answered:

The hospital itself should have a financial assistance form that she could fill out.
She will probably have to wait until the actual bill is received and then take the bill to the hospital billing office and ask them for the forms. Fill them out and turn them in. But, you could stop in the office and ask about it beforehand to find out for sure.

Also, she could try applying for Medicaid. They usually cover bills back 3 months from the date of application. She may be elgible for some sort of medical even if not the 100% medical.
To apply for that she needs to go to the Department of Human Services office.

Good Luck!
Hope the daughter has a quick recovery!

History graduate looking for transition job?

We Answered:

Check with the career services office at your school. And definitely the alumni office to get names of alums who are willing to talk to students and more importantly network. You may get other ideas or job leads.

Surprisingly, most jobs are not found through Career Builder or Monster. But if you prefer the internet try Vault.com

Also consider doing a certificate program at nights in the field you may be interested in (paralegal, computers, etc.) and maybe doing some temp work during the day.

As you know, don't tell prospective employers that you're looking for a transition job. The last thing they want is to spend all that time and money training you and know that you may be leaving in a year.
