House Insurance Policies

Kevin Said:

Is Legal protection in Insurance policies any real benefit?

We Answered:

Absolutely it's worth it. The products and companies that market this option are regulated by the FSA.

Hundreds of people claim legal assistance using their home insurance or car insurance policies on a daily basis. There have to be clauses and small print - it can't cover everything.

Some typical examples; you have a car accident and suffer a serious injury. The car insurance policy will recover the cost of repairing or replacing your car. The legal assistance can pursue a claim for loss of earnings etc from the at-fault driver's insurer.

Also, recovering your excess, cost of hire cars, etc. Home insurance legal protection can help if, for example, someone is injured on your property and pursues you for compensation, title & boundary disputes, problems with noisy neighbours, consumer disputes, and lots more.

Do a google search and read for yourself. I've attached a link to Directline's website as a random example, which gives some info.

Regards.

Does anyone know about HO insurance policies and if they typically cover collapsing pipes under a slab house?

We Answered:

My best advice would just be to call AAA and ask them yourself. They are one of the top insurance companies around, they should be able to take care of you. Good Luck!

Difference between HO2,HO3 house insurance policies?

We Answered:

HO2 only covers the things that are named as covered. HO3 covers everything not excluded. Also, if there's a question of, if it's covered or not, on the HO2, the insured has to prove it IS covered - on an HO3, the insurance company has to prove it's NOT covered.

So coverage is much better on the HO3, and if an engineer needs to be hired, the insurance company pays for it, not you.

I would NEVER sell an HO2 over an HO3. It's WAY less coverage. But YOUR AGENT should be explaining it to you, or you need a new agent.
