Home Insurance Policies

Laura Said:

Landlords Insurance, do i need it if i have a home policy?

We Answered:

homeinsurance.awardspace.us - try this one. Got my home insurance from them. As I know they provide such a service.

Ralph Said:

any ideas where i can find out how many active home insurance policies there are in the UK? or policy holders?

We Answered:

Going around all the insurance companies could be a bit time-consuming, not to mention you would be passed through one person to the next as no one would know the best place to deal with your call! You could look at the main companies last audited reports and accounts which often have a rounded figure of how many policy holders they have. Otherwise you could try to speak to the Association of British Insurers (ABI) which is the trade association for this industry. They should be able to point you in the right direction

Cindy Said:

who ownes the 2 insurance policies on home purchased thru land contract?

We Answered:

The seller will NOT get the buyout on 2 policies, if anything, they will share in a percentage of the loss. And it depends on who's name the policies were written, the payout will go to the NAMED INSURED on the policy.

Cannot double dip, even if there were 2 policies written.

April Said:

With whom should I insure my home, now that State Farm is letting go of their Florida home insurance policies?

We Answered:

It pays to start shopping around for a new policy. The good news is that more than a dozen insurance companies have entered the market since the hurricane-induced meltdown of 2004-06.

Citizens Property Insurance Corp., the state's insurer of last resort, has been farming out hundreds of thousands of its policies to startup companies. Firms in that group include American Integrity Insurance, United Property & Casualty and Federated National Insurance. Many have been dubbed poor financial risks, though none has been tested thanks to our mostly storm-free hurricane seasons since 2006.

Companies with stronger ratings have been branching out in Florida, too. One is St. Petersburg's ASI, which recently insured only newer homes, but now is taking on older homes.

If you struggle to find coverage, contact the Florida Market Assistance Plan at www.fmap.org or by calling toll-free 800-524-9023. FMAP helps consumers find coverage. If you still can't secure a policy, an agent will place you with Citizens Property Insurance.

Veronica Said:

What kind of lawyer do I need that specializes home insurance policies?

We Answered:

You need to be much more specific because water damage may be covered in certain circumstances but flood damage is not covered in any circumstance.

In the USA no homeowners policy will cover damage due to a flood. Flood damage is specifically excluded. Coverage for flood would have to be purchased through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
