High Risk Insurance

Virginia Said:

How does the short term disability insurance work for a high risk pregnancy?

We Answered:

Short Term Disability insurance is NOT standardized. You'll have to read your coverage form.

Many policies won't cover any pregnancy, when you get pregnant the first year. The waiting period, is for CONCEPTION, not "disability". Many policies flat out exclude maternity coverage. You have to read the policy, to find out what you are 'eligible' for.

Kelly Said:

Why has the Obama administration banned abortion coverage for women in the high-risk insurance pools?

We Answered:

A brief look at the historic narrative on abortion vs. compulsory pregnancy is interesting.
As has happened so frequently in the past and through the auspice of carefully crafted public relations programs, the reality has been turned on its head.
Firstly,
Abortion is a “Conservatives” Program.
Please consider…..
Roe vs. Wade: Richard Nixon is in the white house; the highly conservative Burgher supreme court; Rumsfeld is white house chief of Staff, his crony D. Cheney is by his side.
George Bush senior, as U.N. ambassador goes to China with Kissinger to institute the “One Child” policy that has abortion as a central component. Ronald Reagan, then governor of California, concurrently pushed through the most Progressive and Liberal abortion law in the World. His daughter Patty famously had an abortion to show the masses it‘s no big deal. The republican Dominated ways and means committee institutes what amounts to funded sterilization programs for inner city people. Gingrich et al and all of the above—ALL- are on record supporting the sacred right of a woman to choose.
Why?
The poor and working class had too many babies, and they were irresponsibly locked into a culture of dependency from the Welfare state: school lunches, Access, day care, housing assistance, Wicc programs et cetera.. A drain on society. It was their civic duty to only have the number of children they could easily afford and, if one actually reads Roe vs. Wade, the woman whose physical sacrifice fosters a child from egg to the senior prom is legally allotted that social stewardship as the absolute hub and decider.
Do it for America : and as such a sacrament.

Time marched on…
It was discovered, and there are clips of Pat Buchanan speaking of the social engineering program of the late 70’s, that the democratic vote could be split along this line—progressive vs. conservative Catholics, evangelical vs. liberal protestants and traditional versus more secular Jews. When Reagan, now in the white house, was to appoint Sandra day O’Conner to the Supreme Court there was a flurry of inquiry from top GOP if she might be “soft” on abortion--”We can’t give up this Issue.” They’d said, and for the reasons just stated. It was from that period, that the argument was re-framed whereby blacks, liberals and Homosexuals callously murder “ babies” in their headlong rush to wreck American. A public relations success. A less kindly man than myself might consider this the Crassest political opportunism and suggest, as a broad generalization, that top Republicans as a whole don’t particularly care about zygotic existence, evidenced by what they do to the, usually swarthy, living.
Neither do Democrats.
*
What ever the- negligible-- differences between the “two” parties they have an unshakable solidarity and vigilance against their common, potentially insurgent, enemy--- the domestic population. Democracy itself is under attack; we all know this. As such, for the last 30 neo-liberal years, by way of incrementallism, and with the steadfast Class cohesion of those at the top of society we are entering a totalitarian era; the media sweeping the way, schooling us to think in totalitarian ways. Including the rather Orwellian notion that We get MORE rights when we reduce somebody else’s--history declaring the opposite as true.
Obama is tragically--and to my own disappointment, very much part of this dark tradition of consolidating all aspects of… the Human, under the brackish umbrella of the State.
Barack’s baby steps here might soon be more sweepingly done as “Liberalism”—granting constitutional protection to an egg/zygote/fetus, say; another sacrament; the wealthy could go to Mexico, Sweden or the Bahamas and not run afoul of so much as a city ordinance.
*
Otherwise, as regard to this issue, everyone over 16 might have a Pez dispenser of the French morning after pill and could use them—or not- in private and according to their beliefs during the three week period if they suspect they’d conceived-- but this puts control into the wrong hands.
This would be simple enough if the Masters of mankind didn’t have something else on their mind.

Hope that helped.

Dana Said:

When the health care reform law creates high-risk insurance for people with pre-existing conditions, who pays?

We Answered:

Not necessarily. I have diabetes. I go to the doctor, get my prescriptions, my lab work, and I have my feet checked. That's it. The doctor, nurses, lab technicians, receptionists, and everyone working behind the scenes get some more job security. The insurance has to deal with me once every three months to get my medications which cost them about $150. I only need to see the doctor annually. I am not draining their coffers. Neither will the 10 million more people who will be added to their pool. Remember that these people are still living and many of them are not actually on death's door. This means that they will get the care they need and it won't cost that much in the long run.

Also, the remaining people getting insurance won't be doing anything other than giving the insurance companies money every month. This means that the insurance companies will be just fine. Don't let the rhetoric fool you. This is a blessing for the insurance companies. It was good when the Republicans wanted it in 1993 and it's good today.

What is the best/cheapest car insurance for high risk drivers?

We Answered:

Maybe Progressive or Geico. Definitely not Allstate or State Farm.
Google SR 22 Insurance and you may have some luck that way.

Paul Said:

How long can you go without car insurance in Michigan before becoming high risk?

We Answered:

if you cancel a policy, and do not have any insurance you are instantly a high risk, Yes I know you do not want to give any more money to the priviouse thief, but set up your new insurance, and on the day it kicks in, cancel the other insurance company, Some insurance companies are obviously supreme butt heads, do what you have to do, just make sure there is no lapse in coverage, and NEVER DEPEND ON SOMEONE OVER THE PHONE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM.BEFORE. notify them on the phone, keep track of day and time and who you talked to, follow it up with a certified letter, so there is no oops. My roommate canceled her previous insurance, for being a greedy thief, her new insurance said oh we will contact them, dont worry. (except the first insurance company says they were never notified, and want three months of insurance, THAT THEY ARE NOT ENTITLED TO. do not take a chance, cover your butt, keep a copy of the letter for your records, just in case.

Regina Said:

Why I am rated high-risk for insurance?

We Answered:

First of all, it's absolutely NORMAL for a pregnant woman's lipids to be high; lipids form the base for all hormones and pregnancy is regulated almost entirely by hormones.

It's impossible to tell why you were given such a high rating based on the information you have. I suggest you mail a letter to the insurer and ask that it give you a detailed answer. Since many life insurers won't give this information directly to applicants, list the name and address of your personal physician. Send the letter "return receipt requested." If you don't receive a response within 45 days or so, send a written complaint to your state's insurance commissioner's office.

As for your future insurability, while this insurer may have reported the risk factor(s) to the Medical Information Bureau, another insurer cannot base its decision solely from this. It MUST independently investigate any "hits" (suspected matches showing reported risk factors) it receives from the MIB concerning you. At the conclusion of its investigation, it must make its own decision based on the underwriting guidelines.

One final word: long ago, most life insurers would assess a rating if a woman was pregnant. This was due to higher mortality rates following childbirth. However, most insurers have ceased this practice, since childbirth today is generally safe, with few deaths. It could be that this insurer is using very old guidelines.

I'd suggest you complete an application with another insurer. You will be asked whether you've ever been rated or declined by another insurer -- tell the truth on the application so the insurer can investigate up-front. Withholding this information will only make you appear dishonest.

Discuss It!
