The CDC does studies every year but that is only people that are treated at the ER and it is not that reliable.
Here is one site I found that list the dog bites last year that were reported.

Dogs 101 is a joke.
The insurance companies go by the media hype and the supposed reputable information. It is not just Pits, there are many other dogs on the list.
Google top 10 dogs that attack.
In the grand scheme of things, dog bite are way down on the list of deaths in a given year. But the media has to jump on anything to do with a Pit types or Rott types, you never hear about the other breeds.

I tried to search for real accurate statistics once and never found anything reliable.
