depends on how you open it.

sole propriotor if you merely sign a brokers agreement with them as yourself. Then you are merley in your own business as a broker for them

If you went into business with someone else in the office you would be a partnership ( depending on the agreement as to what type), if you incorporated and had that corporation owning the business where you had a broker relationship though that corporation, then you would be a corporation.

State Farm would have all those types as agencies within thier broker agents. What you left out was an employee, if the agency was actually owed by state farm itself you would merely be an employee

first and foremost contact a General Insurance Provider like National Assurance or Oriental Insurance or any of the private insurance service providers like Reliance, etc.. They will be more than eager to help you out with the formalities.

U will have to start off by undergoing a short term course with an insurance company and pass in a test given by IRDA (Insurance Regulatory Development Authority). Once u pass u will have an agent number and assigned to an officer and a particular branch from where u have to do business.

The only suggestion I have is to call some claims' adjustors in the area to submit your name and information. Usually insurance companies do not provide the name of contractors, but they must be approved by the insurance company.

Therefore the only way to this issue would be to advertise in your local paper or through craigslist.
