In my opinion, you made a mistake by hiring a lawyer before you had any need for one. By hiring a lawyer, you automatically slowed any forthcoming settlement to a crawl. (2 years?), and will now have to pay the lawyer at least a third (I'll bet he ends up with more $$ than you do) of anything you may be able to get. Any licensed insurance company cannot afford to screw you over. If they tried, they would have their license pulled in a heartbeat
