Insurance companies set their rates according to their loss experience in recent months/years.

Don't pick an insurance company on the basis of price. You'll find that any company will be high one year and low the next.

Avoid the biggest and the smallest. The biggest will have the burden of challenging legal precedent to keep everybody's costs low, and as a result will have to charge their customers more. I know, it doesn't seem to make sense, but there it is.

The smallest would have a massive price increase if they happen to have one loss that gets awarded big bucks by some lottery-jackpot thinking jury.

The whole idea is to get with a company that has integrity and good customer service and stay with them for the long haul. Their prices will be competitive sometimes, and other times not so much.

Your individual loss experience over many years will pay off with discounts and underwriting consideration in your favor when you have a run of bad luck. They'll stick with you knowing your long-term pattern is in your favor.

Please go to an insurance agent. There are tons of us around. An agent can shop it out to get you the best rate. Also, your agent is there to help you with any questions or problems. Service charges are usually charged when you are doing the insurance companies payment plan. Mine charges one dollar a month some charge $4 and some $5. Ask the agent they have to explain to you what the service charges are for. What state & what Co???

Your payment comppany (eg. your insurance company, etc) must have a way to do this. Each company has their own website and their own way. Consult your company to find out how to pay online.
