Travis Said:

How much does an auto insurance agent make per year?

We Answered:

Average for someone who LASTS a year, is probably around $50,000 that first year - working 80 hour workweeks.

95% can't earn $500 in six months.

It's very hard work, with a very high washout rates.

Want to be an auto insurance agent?

We Answered:

If you don't plan on selling insurance, you don't need a license. Period.

I just checked the WA state website. You need an APPOINTMENT in order to sell insurance, WITH your license. Apparently you don't need the appointment to GET the license, but without an appointment, the license by itself isn't going to do you any good.

SO. You can take the education courses you need to take, pay your testing fee, take the test, pass it, pay the licensing fee . . . and do exactly WHAT with the license? Nothing, because you can't sell insurance without an appointment, and you can't ADVISE without a broker's license.

An AGENCY can't sponsor you. A COMPANY has to sponsor you. HUGE difference. NO ONE is going to sponsor you, unless you're going to work for them.

what is required to work for a auto insurance agency?

We Answered:

You don't need ANYTHING besides basic reading, writing, typing skills, to start out as a receptionist making just about minimum wage.

You don't make big money, until you've gotten your license, and have years of experience under your belt.

What's the best website offering all the information I need to know about Auto Insurance?

We Answered:

Start at your state insurance department website - the consumer section on "about auto insurance". It's written for the consumer, but it's the best thing for free on the web, unless you want to take a class through an online insurance school.

**Oh, and the BEST thing to do, is to read the policy forms! Nothing is more plain than that . . .and an employer shouldn't mind you reading the policy form!**

Does anyone know of a good auto insurance agency in Downtown Miami for liability only?

We Answered:

You should check out http://www.insurance.com/auto.aspx

On that site you can shop a bunch of auto insurance companies all at once to find liability only policies for Florida drivers. They do not have a local office, but have an 800 number with licensed agents available to help.

Irene Said:

how do you become a underwriter for a auto insurance agency in TX?

We Answered:

I don't think you mean underwriter. To become a licensed insurance agent you will need to take a few tests. One is for Property & Casualty and the other is Life & Health.
You can get study materials through several different companies. I went through Dearborn.
