From the tone of your question I sense you think we are out to get you. NOT THE CASE. Of course insurance doesnt want to over pay.. but they arent going to try to "trick you" etc.

Its simple- let the estimator come to your house and do the estimate. Dont get stressed, dont worry about the amount etc.

Once they do the estimate you are going to take the vehicle to the body shop of your choice and hand them the insurance companies estimate. If they dont agree with it- THEY will call the insurance company and negiotiate what else they need.

Alot of times people make it way more complicated then it is- you dont need to get involved. Simply let them do the estimate and if the shop doesnt agree - TRUST ME they will call insurance right away b/c they want the additional money.

I sware- its not scary haha.

Most likely your prior company got hit with a lot more claims last year than was expected, so everyone including the good/bad get increased premiums to cover the prior risks and the current risks they expect this year.

All companies have to put aside what they expect to pay in claims each year in a fund. Just like when all of the hurricanes hit in the south, even if a homeowner did not have a claim, most found out at renewal their premiums skyrocket or that the insurance company decided to pull out of that state and not write any more business and found out they were not renewing their policy and they had to scramble to find a insurance company to insure their home.

Since you have a "clean" record, you could shop around and find lower costs with another carrier. This company may have done you a favor since if not for the huge jump in premium, and if they had increased your rates say by 10%, you most likely may never have "shopped" for better/lower cost of insurance.

The 93 Supra will be faster than the 88. The non-turbo models will be less on insurance, but all will be expensive to insure in general.

You did not specify if you are comparing turbo models, or base models.

1988 base model Supra has 200 HP and 188 lb-ft of Torque
1988 turbo model Supra has 230HP and 240 lb-ft or Torque

1993 base model Supra has 220 HP and 210 lb-ft or Torque
1993 twin turbo Supra has 320 HP and 315 lb-ft or Torque

So the 93 model will be quicker, especially the twin turbo model. But the 88 Turbo would be fairly quick as well. It all depends on how quick is quick enough for you.
