Online Car Insurance Uk

Christian Said:

How can I resolve this car insurance issue in the UK using my International driving license?

We Answered:

This is not what you want to hear Sorry.

You will still have to apply for and get a provisional licence and take the relevant theory and practical tests before you can drive in the UK.

If you had a Foreign licence when you came to the UK ( Which you didn't) you could have driven for 12 months with that licence from the date you entered the UK.

After this period you must either stop driving or have passed a UK driving theory and practical test. Sorry but there is no short cuts to getting yourself on the road now, as you say you have already been in the UK for 3 years.

I would advise you to speak to your student union member or one of the many advice centres in your college or the Citizens Advice Bureau where you live.

Insurance for UK new drivers or young drivers is not cheep by any means so don't be shocked, it's a fact of life.

How can I sort out this car insurance issue in the UK?

We Answered:

Sorry, but if you could not pass the UK driving test and have gone off and got one in your own country to drive in the UK I hope for the sake of the rest of us that it only has limited time useage in this country.

You have no UK driving history to offer any insurance agency. Your International Permit is also brand new and that suggests limited or no driving experience on the dates. The insurance companies data bases will be picking up all this information which is why they are quoting so very high on the costs.

The quotes you are getting actually suggest you are not a youngster which means that should you pass your UK test you may well get a reasonable quote. Also a car with a value of the small amout you are quoting is also ringing up alarm bells for the the insurance companies.

Please, you are living and studying in this country and you owe it to yourself and us to try to it all properly and pass the UK test.
Why not try an intensive one week driving course in the UK and see of you can do it that way?

A UK license will open more doors than the way you are trying to do it.

UK Car insurance help please? Kinda complicated..?

We Answered:

The car doesn't legally have to be insured if it is just parked on the road, only if it is being used, although this is changing in 2010.
