You did not say if you were renewing with the AA or looking to them for a new insurance. However it is a fact that to get your new business insurers will give low quotes and hope that at the end of the year you will not bother to change and go on paying them at a new higher rate. Every year I change my insurer and over the past 8 years my actual premium has come down by about 10%. That is 10% less than I paid 8 years ago. Partly due to no claims etc but it shows the trend.
Changing now on the net or by telephone is not the hassle it used to be so move on and keep it low.

Usually the question is worded something like this:
"Has an insurer cancelled or refused or given notice that it intends to cancel or refuse any similar insurance for misrepresentation of any material fact in the procurement or renewal of insurance or in the submission of claims?"
In your case, the answer is no. Your son did not deliberately try to misrepresent the information, he simply made a mistake. When you intentionally give incorrect information it is considered misrepresentation.
I've never heard of an insurer refusing a policy because the driver's record is actually better than they stated and the new (better rated) policy is more expensive? That makes no sense to me.

1.0 litre vauxhall corsa's from 1995- 2007 are a group 1 insurance so maby have a look at buying one of those? also it would be benificial for you to take your pass plus test which can reduce your premium by up to 35% with some insurers!! The cost of the course is around 200 pounds.

Also!! If either one of your parents has a good driving history, ie been driving a long time with no claims or convictions with a long ncb (ideally your mum as womens car insurance is cheaper!!) add HER to YOUR policy as a named driver, when i did this about 6 months ago it lowered my insurance by nearly 300 pounds!! and try admiral, they are very gd with new/young drivers.

If you're planning to fully insure your vehicle, the Kia Rio is going to be your least expensive option. The vehicle is smaller, less expensive and the vehicle least likely to get robbed. A 2000 Ford Mustang is going to expensive for your age. Insurance company stats show younger drivers to get more tickets on sports cars. A 2004 Honda Civic would be the considered the middle of the three cars. However, they tend to be robbed often.

Best thing to do is call Geico for the quote.
