Life Insurance Compare

Ricky Said:

which is the better life insurance (with mutual fund) to take, sunlife of canada or manulife? compare. TY :)?

We Answered:

Both Sunlife and Manulife are from Canada and both are wonderful insurance companies. You can't lose with either one both are very solid. This is based on my experience working with Manulife for 5 years many years ago and still carry large policies with them. I recommend you meet with both and see with agent you are most comfortable to work with for long term someone with track record and then decide. but whichever you choose you can lose. Good Luck!

What is the medical exam and questions for life insurance like?

We Answered:

Most life insurance companies will ask about your entire health history. (i.e. have you ever had surgery and if so why? etc. etc.) Additionally most life insurance companies will check your health records to make sure there are not any glaring problems.

The medical exam depends on the coverage amount. If you're in your late 20s and high blood pressure is the only issue you have, they will most likely take a blood and urine sample along with checking your blood pressure. If high blood pressure is the only problem you have, it should not be grounds for denial. However it can cause you to get a higher rating.

How good is a universal indexed life insurance policy as an investment vehicle compared to bonds or annuities?

We Answered:

It's very good for the agent who sold it to you. Get term life until your dependents are independent and make your own investments.

If a person uses nicotine gum do you still have to declare that on a life insurance application?

We Answered:

YES you likely will have to stay as smokers rates. All companies word their questions a little different and some allow certain things, but....

MOST companies word it as something to this effect: "Have you used any tobacco products within the last X years?"

Tobacco products include nicotine gum, cigars, cigarettes, chewing tobacco, marijuana, etc. Different products have different elimination periods. IE: Marijuna is typically 5 years without, chew, smokes, etc is typically 12 months, some companies allow you to smoke up to 1 cigar a month as you typically don't inhale cigar smoke. I haven't seen any that distinguish a difference between nicotine gum and other tobacco products. If you've been using the Nicotine gum for several years I doubt they would see any difference. The gum is a tool to assist you in quitting smoking, and not to be used as a perminent substitute as I'm sure it still has health risks.

The best bet is to contact an insurance broker in your area and discuss this with them. They will be able to give you a definate answer based on the products in your area, and may know of a company that does distinguish the difference between cigarettes and nicotine gum or other tobacco products.

Discuss It!
