Those websites comparing rates, you know they're just harvesting your information to sell as leads to agents, right?

They're out there, anyway. But that does you NO GOOD, because there's no website to compare different COVERAGE PLANS with different companies.

Plus, they throw the best rate at you - which rarely sticks.

If you don't want to be contacted, you'll have to go to a local, independent agent, and let them get you quotes. That's the ONLY way to get a bunch of quotes at one time, without having your personal information harvested - which is what the online things do. OR, you can contact each major health insurer in your area, and get individual quotes - a major PITB.

She needs something if she is just on original Medicare without any kind of supplement. Aetna, along with many other companies, has Medicare Advantage plans and/or Medicare Supplements available. These plans will pay what Medicare won't pay. Medicare has a $1024 per occurrence Part A deductible and a $135 yearly Part B deductible and the plans will cover that deductible. Some plans will have a co-pay and some won't.

All Medicare Supplements are standardized and are exactly the same from company to company, the only difference is premium. The Medicare Advantage plans have a template from Medicare they must follow but have different co-pays as well as different premiums.

It is very complicated; you'll need to visit a local independent agent that works with all the major senior plans in your mom's area because the plans available are county specific. The agent can explain the plans and find one that best suits your mothers situation and budget. There is no extra charge using an agent.

You do have a time limit for changing. You have until March 31 or she'll be locked out of any changes until next year. Also, if she did not have a Part D prescription plan by January 1 she will not be able to get a plan that covers prescriptions until next year.

There is absolutely no point anyone here making a wild guess on how much your insurance will cost - it won't help you at all. You'll just have to phone or e-mail the various insurance companies and brokers, just like we do.

All insurance companies will require your driving licence details and the vehicle details, before they will offer you a quote. That's how motor insurance works.

Well, when you go to "sites" for that, they are actually harvesting your personal information to sell, to HUNDREDS of agents. So the mistake you're making, when you don't want to be hounded, is trying to do this on the internet.

If you call a few local agents, some captive, some independent, they will give you quotes, the independents can give you quotes for lots of different companies, and they will NOT sell your personal information to other agents, like the "sites" will.

I don't know of one that will compare them ACCURATELY. See, each state has it's own laws. So each company will have policies to comply with the requirements of each state. And each company has several of THOSE. So theoretically, Blue Cross probably has 200 different plans . . . maybe 5 of which are valid IN YOUR STATE. So what good does it do to compare plans which aren't available or valid in your state?

Your BEST bet is to go to your local, independent agent, and let THEM get you a half dozen quots for plans valid in your state, and prepare the grid chart for you, for comparison purposes.
