Having a good credit score and combining your home and auto insurance with the same company are both ways to get a good discount on your insurance.
That being said there is only one way to find a good rate for you and that is to shop around.
Get quotes from a local independent agent who represents several different companies or get several quotes online.

Yes, you can, for the reasonable share of expenses relating to earn self employed income.

The Income Tax Act limits the circumstances under which a self-employed individual can deduct the costs related to a workspace in the home. They are confined to situations where the space is used exclusively to earn income from a business and on a regular and continuous basis for meeting clients, customers or patients, or if it is the individual’s principal place of business.

This claim may be based on the proportionate space within the home that is used as a workplace. Eligible expenses include rent, mortgage interest, realty taxes, insurance, utilities and maintenance. It is generally not advisable to claim capital cost allowance, on a portion of the home because that portion would not qualify for the principal residence exemption when it is ultimately sold.

For the car, you may claim around 50 cents per km for trips to see a client, that covers insurance, gas and depreciation.

your insurance company doesn't have any phone numbers to reach you? i find that hard to beleive. call your insurance agent or company and find out if they are the ones calling you.

The insurance laws are the way they are for a reason. You don't see the 'sense' in it now but you will if you wreck and cause harm to someone else. You can not drive the car off the lot without proof of liability insurance or financial responsibility. If you can't, or refuse, to do this then don't buy the car.
