The point of "ObamaCare" was that, if people couldn't afford health insurance through the private sector, they COULD through the government.

Edit: Giachetta pointed something out to me via private message, and I agree with her on it - if people choose NOT to have health care, they should NOT be fined for making said choice. That, I think, is just folly.

Mr M is right - insurers would not release their data, as that forms the whole basis of their profitability (or not!)

What they will allow is for you to feed information to them via XML to get back a quote. Obviously they would want some comfort as to who you are, how your business will work, etc

I wish I knew because the comparison doesn't make sense. Even if you own a car the requirement to have insurance is a state regulation (which makes it legal), not a federal one.

Edit-I love how people try to rationalize it, but the truth is a vastly overreaching commerce clause still can not cover the unconstitutional mandate.
