Your living standard is admirably low. (seriously CONGRATULATIONS - you don't waste money).

You have life under control and I would say keep the 2 grand in your savings account and call it your rainy day fund.

Use your income to get rid off the student loans as fast as possible. Once you have that accomplished pretend you are paying off the student loans still and instead pay that money into the savings account. do this until you have that 6 months emergency fund together and then direct the extra money towards another savings goal, etc.

I don't even think you needed that advise.... You are doing way better than most people.
