Cell phone insurance claim?

We Answered:

Well, I used to work for a cell phone company and in most cases they are supposed to send you the same type of phone that you had before but if the company is different, then they will send you a phone that is "closest" to the one you had as far as features, memory and software. The "new" phone that they send in any case is never a brand new phone but rather one that someone else sent in, they fixed it and send it to you as a refurbished phone. Unfortunately you are stuck with it unless you decide to buy a new phone yourself......Don't let them continue to give you the run around because trust me they wont do anything else about it and it will only cause you more frustrations...not worth your time!

My thoughts on cell phone insurance: Do you agree?

We Answered:

First, REAL insurance can only be sold by someone licensed to sell it, in the state it is being sold. This is a law, and this is why what you're buying from Sprint, isn't real insurance.

Second, summarizing coverages, leads to lawsuits for deceptive practices. Can't be done - blame the lawyers.

Lastly, the whole cell phone insurance thing is a ripoff. You pay a monthly fee, and if something happens, you get the opportunity to buy a refurb, after you turn yours in, at slightly over wholesale price. It's a win-win situation for the phone companies.

I made a change to my insurance over the phone. I was told a specific price but now it is changed?

We Answered:

You may be receiving a bill for the endorsement PLUS your initial payment on the renewal.

I know your agent is probably closed right now, but,. you CAN call 1-800-PROGRESSIVE and they could probably answer your billing question. Just have your policy number handy and they may ask you for your license number as well. You can even set up an account on-line with Progressive where you can go in and check on your payment status.

If the agent gave you a price over the phone, she probably got it from Progressive's system as we do it all the time. There may be a mis-understanding of the over-all billing procedure but I bet the TOTAL price is the same.....it could even be including your CURRENT payment.....

Good luck and I hope this helps!

Car insurance help!!?

We Answered:

Seems about right for a new high risk driver given the figures the youngsters are being quoted at the moment. There are endless questions on this subject.

Have you passed your test yet?

My daughters first car at 17 came into the household four months before she was 17 and I owned and insured it in my name. It was old so did it third party fire and theft. I got an introductory no claims from my existing company as well. Added for an additional premium her when she was 17. Six months later she passed her test and then changed the details to having passed her test.
Then at 18 I made her the main driver with me the registered keeper. Upped the price a little bit though. At 19 we changed the car and made her the owner and sole driver and changed to the fully comp in her name and with a sole driver and they gave her the accumulated no claims.

Used the same company all the time so her history was there. Now at 22 with a brand new Yaris she is paying 600 with fully protected no claims.........
