i can not say that america is better or worse than the countries you mention. i can not say whether our freedom is any better or worse. but answer me this. when world war II was about to begin how was it that britian and france and sweden and someother european countries begged and pleaded with america to enter the war and protect their countries? why is it when there are disasters in the world that most developed countries look to america for the most support? why did france seek americas help in viet nam and then abandon viet nam when america took an interest in helping france? why is it so important for canada and britian and france to being pushing america into socialized medicine and providing more and more for the poor and lower class? government of any country should not provide for the people. the people of a country should be able to support themselves both financially and morally. we have a united nations but when worse comes to worse they look to america to lead the way. Is this fair to americans? i watched the french riots on the news that was caused by the government wanting to end the right to employment for life that they now have. is the government of france responsible to insure each french person has a life time job? you talk about swedon and their freedoms but you fail to mention that the swedish tax rate is 80% and the reason is so that the government can take care of all their people that don't want to work but want all of life's pleasures. i am proud that i am an american just as you should be proud to be a brit. but our govenments can not and should not take care of it's people from cradle to grave. your own tony blair said that the mark of a great country isn't who is leaving the country but who wants to come into that country. i will disagree with your statement that you are free to say what you want. i would wager that you could be put in jail for saying real bad things about your queen. mr doodles

Don't be silly. There are many countries where they pay zero tax and they are not right-wing or left-wing. Using the level of taxation to slot countries into left or right is barmy. Since Brits pay higher sales tax than "socialist" countries, the UK cannot be socialist. Since it has higher levels of taxes than right-wing countries, it cannot be right-wing, according to your silly classification. Stop trying.

The coalition government is a centrist government.

Redistribution of wealth, nationalized GM Chrysler and the banks. Nationalizing the health care industry. Trying to cencor press outlets that don't report the things he wants them to. Trying to take over the energy industry, Trying to seize control of the internet. Appointed a wealth redistribution advocate to run the largest health care system on Earth. The guy is in every way a socialist. It is stupid to try to deny it.You don't think he's as socialist as he should be, but that doesn't mean he's not socialist. For us capitalists, Obama is right next to Mao on the communist scale. You are just looking at this from a terribly misguided point of view. But from over here, in America, it looks like a full communist takeover.
