Compare Home Insurance

Max Said:

Is Firstline home security system any good? How to they compare to ADT or Brinks?

We Answered:

Nothing worth getting is free. Aside from the fact you will be paying almost double standard monitoring rates, you are going to be looped into a long term contract and you may or may not own the equipment in the end. Thing is, to these larger companies (ADT & Brinks included) alarm systems and monitoring is a numbers game... the more they have the happier they are. In order to be successful at this game you need to get the systems in as fast and as cost effective as possible. hmmmm that sounds safe.

My suggestion to you would be to take a look around locally. Just because a commercial says "use us we are the best" does not mean it is true. Try to find a local company that is not affiliated with one of the big numbers game companies. I have been approached by a one of the companies on your list but I refuse to sell my clients out. I will not go into details or name the company, just suffice to say my customers would not have been happy with the outcome.

Also, I would strongly recommend against wireless. I have written a number of articles on home security related topics, both electronic and physical. These can be found on my website at http://www.keepsafesystems.ca. Protection 101 as well as False alarm info may be of interest. In addition, there is an article on the truth about wireless alarms in the archive.

Good Luck

What is the best insurance company to get auto and home through in Ohio?

We Answered:

We had Allstate for several years and when we purchased our new home and car, we decided to compare rates. Allstate was the highest. Nationwide was okay, but they required a membership to the Farm Bureau to get their rates??!!?? We went with State Farm. We got more coverage for less money than any other place we compared.
