Compare Comprehensive Insurance

Mike Said:

Why is fully comprehensive much cheaper then 3rd party for a 17 year old?

We Answered:

comprehensive coverage is for damages caused beyond your control, like fire, animal or a glass crack. thus comp coverage would depend more on where on you live than on your own personal driving history. there is no way to evaluate an individual person's risk on a random event so they don't charge high rates for new comp coverage (unless you live in an area with lots and lots of deer crossing the road, that's about the only reason I can think).

but liability (what you're calling third-party coverage) is always more expensive for young drivers because young drivers tend to be in more accidents. younger drivers are more likely to cause accidents, and are less likely to avoid potential accidents caused by somebody else

Stacey Said:

I have got automatic driving license 2 days go and I`m looking for car insurance?

We Answered:

Its high because your a new driver so you seen as a risk to insure.

The people that pay £20 or £240 a year likely have 5 years no claims built up proving they are safe and reliable and can be trusted by the insurance company because they know they are not likely to crash and have a accident claim.

They insurance companies are not going to offer you a lower qoute if your new to driving simply because you lack experience and are more likely to have a accident than someone with say 20 years driving experience hence why its more expensive for you and not your friends.

You need to earn 5 years no claims bonus really before your insurance will go down to the £240 mark.

Each year you drive and dont have a acciden will mean your insurance is cheaper than the year before..but to start with its high.

Enough said.

Carol Said:

Does my fully comp learner-driver car insurance cover the accompanying driver or must they be insured too?

We Answered:

Your insurance would not cover the experienced driver to drive unless they are named on your policy.
If the experienced driver has their own fully comp insurance they need to check as not all fully comps now allow driving other cars. When they do allow it it is third party only which you may not be happy with as your car is not covered in that circumstance.
