I used Go compare website which said QUINN insurance was the cheapest.

I would recommend using a comparison site then going onto the actual site to see if there is a difference.

I think my insurance for my 1st year on a ford fiesta then swapped it to a clio was around £990 for third party.

You will have to shop around you will be amazed at the different prices you get quoted.
My son aged 20 was quoted between £500 and £1300 third party F &F to go on my wifes insurance. We found the AA was cheapest for us.
Try Sheilas wheels they are good for women.
One factor that contributes towards the cost of the premium is where you live, we live in rural Cornwall which is the cheapest area in England.
But shop around, get quotes for fully comp, TP F&T and third party only. sometimes third party fire and theft is cheaper than third party only.

May I suggest getting some fully comprehensive quotes. I know it sounds strange but sometimes fully comp is cheaper than third party fire & theft.

Have you tried using the car insurance comparison sites.

Small brokers are a good idea, I think you will need to look in the phonebook to find them though.
