HARSHfromApnapaisa : Like most things in life unfortunately there is no single answer to this question. Some companies will not provide quotes for some specific cars (mostly SUVs) or may not provide a particlaur quote in a specific region of the country where they have had a bad claims experience.

So while I cannot answer your specific question here are a few tips that should hopefully help :
1) Please look at the value of the car which is being insured. Some Brokers/Agents will provide you a quote for a lower sum insured and therefore be able to give you a so-called "cheaper" insurance. So when comparing car insurance premiums make sure that you look at the sum insured (called Insured Declared Value or IDV in car insurance industry jargon) before comparing 2 quotes.
2) Make sure you inform the company about your claim status (if you have had a car in the past and have had comprehensive insurance on it in the past) since you can get the no claim discount that you are entitled to. Most companies will give you a 50% no-claim discount if you have not made a claim in the last 5 years. So, for example, if you have been having a Maruti 800 for the last 6 years and have never made a claim and are selling it off and buying a BMW instead you will be entitled to a no-claim bonus of 50% on the insurance premium of the BMW (which can be quite a neat sum).

Small car with small engine will reduce the cost. Cheap, is not what you should be looking for. Your coverage may not be enough to cover a bad accident, and this makes you liable for the remainder of costs. The higher the deductible, such as going to $1000 instead of $500,will also make the payments lower.
