You would need to demonstrate to the other persons insurance company that a vehicle is a NECESSITY rather than a convenience.

ie - are you a courier? a taxi driver? - so, is your vehicle your source of income?

another way of approaching it is if you work a night shift and there is no public transport.

or if you live in an area that has no public transport.

or if you have a medical reason that you need access to a vehicle constantly.

if none of these reasons apply, and you just want a car because otherwise you'd need to catch a bus, then forget it. the only way you'd be able to claim a hire vehicle then, would be if you had that cover on your OWN insurance.

when you get your car repaired, i'd check with the repairer and see if they have a courtesy vehicle.
