Car Insurance Quotations

Vincent Said:

Can you explain car insurance system in the UK, how it works?

We Answered:

Firstly, there are no (or very few) insurance companies in the UK who will insure a uk registered car to a non UK license holder.
This is even less likely when they want a named driver who only has a provisional license and the car is worth 15k.

It is all about risk and reward - there is way too much risk and unlikely to be much reward.

It is not a case of new drivers not allowed to drive luxury cars - I know of quite a number who have have high powered or luxury cars but they are UK license holders and residents. Also they pay thousands for the insurance.

Live with it. Buy a smaller car. It is just how it is.

Gary Said:

Minor car accident, no insurance, no police report, now facing $2200..but i have no money..please help fast...

We Answered:

The only Adelaide I've heard of is in Australia, so I'm guessing I'm correct in that... I don't know if it is totally different than it is in the US, so assuming it's not, you can still turn the claim in with your insurance company, the liability coverage follows you, not your vehicle, so your company should pay for the vehicle you hit, but not the vehicle you were driving.

Adam Said:

Can anybody tell me why there is a need for car insurance in the United States of America?

We Answered:

Insurance, any insurance, is sold by companies who are playing the law of averages. They look at the age and sex of the driver, what kind of vehicle they drive, and where they will be driving. They then look at the probability that this particular driver will be involved in a claim and that's how the rates are set. If you are involved in an accident, or get a speeding ticket, you have changed the probabilities and your rates will increase. That being said, I'll tell you why you need insurance. If you were involved in a serious accident which was your fault and resulted in a fatality, (it happens all the time by the way), you would very likely be sued by the other party. These lawsuits can vary quite a bit but lets use $250,000 as a round general figure. You were at fault and you would lose this case in court resulting in 250K to the other party plus 50K in legal fees. Do you have $300,000? Do you think you could borrow $300,000? That, my friend, is why we have insurance. Hopefully, none of us will ever be in this position but, when you view the consequences of not having this protection, I just look for the best deal and make my payments. And, yes, insurance is not just limited to the US.

Ian Said:

car insurance i had accident?

We Answered:

OK you are in a mess and IT IS ALL your doing.

Firsty you are duty bound to report all accidents to your Insurers, it is a condition of all motor policies.

Secondly the other party has no time limit to getting his car repaired, although he does have a duty to mitigate his losses.

Thirdly, if you have not told your new Insurers about this accident you have obtained insurance on your car fraudulently so it could well be null and void

Fourthly the other party only has to provide you with two quotes, if his chosen repairer is more expensive then you can argue to pay only the lower figure, but you cannot insist on where he gets the quotes from.

Finally I think you will end up having to pay this out of your own pocket because you failed to inform your insurers at the time, incidentally since the accident was your fault the other party had no obligation to tell you his insurance details since you would not be making a claim against them
