Well, according to statistics women do make less claims for accidents - which means that insurers consider them lower risks to insure.

This is true, even when you take into account that women may drive less miles. i.e. women still make fewer claims per mile driven than men do.

Lower risks to insure mean lower rates.

This can be for a variety of reasons. Some people think women are more careful, and less aggressive. Others add that women may choose safer cars, while men are more likely to pick sporty cars.

My opinion is that is should have nothing to do with insurance rates. In some states your credit counts but not in all states. In California your credit still does not count and that is the way it should be. If your laws are different then call your lawmakers to change the law so your credit is not allowed to affect your premiums.

the cost of insurance is different from person to person, depending on your age, gender, type of car, location, etc, etc.

if you feel like you are paying too much, open the good old yellow book and look under car insurance. call them and get free quotes. make sure you have your Vin number and current policy with you. that will speed things up and also make sure you're comparing similar insurance.
