Progressive has the most complicated rating matrix of any carrier.

You are NOT going to see a significant rate difference - it's graduated, from 18 to 30 with Progressive - assuming you're talking about a personal lines policy. With commercial policies, there's a 25% surcharge if any drivers are under 25.

For personal policies and young drivers, Progressive more heavily rates credit score and driving record, than actual age.

I'd like to know why you have to have 4 seats. If you actually need to put butts back there, then you should not be looking at coupes. Just because a coupe has rear seats does not mean they are useful rear seats or comfortable rear seats. I bet you'd like a 4th gen Maxima ('95-'99) with a 5 speed equipped. Power, performance, comfort, good MPG for long commutes, and excellent durability/reliability. The equipped 3.0 V6 made Ward's 10 best engines for over 10 years. Only issue is the body style (which is subjective, I suppose), but you are not buying the car nor is your car on the title, so I don't see why you should be in charge of that (no offense). You should be grateful that your dad is even willing to share his car with his 16 year old son.
