this sounds more like a condo, if you are responsible for everything from the studs in. in this case you don't need a renters policy, you need a condo policy, which would provide limited coverage on some of the actual structure, not just your own personal belongings. call around for quotes

You probably already know that. You should be getting quotes from a local to you, independent agent, but they're probably going to tell you the same thing in nicer words - rental properties are the dregs of the insurance world. Agents write them as part of a full insurance package, but they're tons of work, tend to be LOTS of claims, and tend to lose money for insurance companies. Agents who write ONLY rental properties, go out of business pretty quickly.
