Affordable Car Insurance Quote

Thelma Said:

Does anyone know where to get affordable auto (liability) insurance for teenagers?

We Answered:

You have some things you can do to get your insurance down. They are as easy as picking up the phone.

You will need to call local insurance agents in your area. Do not call the ones you see on TV advertising that they are the lowest. They usually are not. How can they be, when they have multi-million dollar TV advertising budgets that they have to pay for? Look in your phone book yellow pages. Pay close attention to the words "Independent Agent" or "Independent Insurance Agency". Those are the ones you will want to call. Those are the agents who don't represent one single company. They will represent a number of companies. You call them, and they will run you up against all the companies which they represent and they will tell you which of those companies has the lowest rate for you.

Take notes. Write down what they say. Then, call the next independent insurance company. It is very important that you ask the same questions each time, to make sure that you are getting quotes for the exact same coverage.

You can also ask each agent, "Look, I am just 19. What would you recommend I do to help get my insurance lowered?" You will find that in some cases, the agent will know of a class you can take, like a defensive driving class administered by the police department. Upon passing such a class, the insurance company will assume you are less of a risk out on the road, and MAY grant you a lowered rate just for having taken such a class.

Of course, you could ask your parents or guardians if you can be added to their existing policy. That will generally lower your rates, but if you have an accident, or get something as simple as a speeding ticket, ALL of your rates will go up, yours as well as your parents'. So be careful.

Thought I found a solution to high car insurance... Not so sure now?

We Answered:

However what Tin-God is suggesting is illegal and can invalidate your policy.

There is no cheap way to insure your first car. Can't understand your quote of almost £4000. I'm guessing that this is, as another suggested, an attempt to get some free advertising for the sites you have links to. It is indeed a nice try but anyone who is insuring there first car will know that £1000-£2000 is the going rate. Anything that offers it for less is probably too good to be true or illegal.

What is the cheapest car insurance for teens to buy themselves?

We Answered:

In South Florida, there are way too many agencies pushing bad insurance. You need to call and find an agent who will talk to you. You only need PIP, Property damage, and (yes really) Bodily Injury (not required untill 2 seconds after you havean accident, so get it). You do not need nor have to take legal coverages, accidental death, towing, or hospitalization. Many agencies push these with financeing. Don't be pushed.

Where can I find affordable car insurance in PA for college students?

We Answered:

That's not really a question we can answer. The cost of your insurance depends on several factors, including the age and model of the car, whether or not you need liability only or full coverage, your driving record, the number of years you have been driving, your geographic location, the amount of time the vehicle will be on the road, and some companies now check your credit as well. Your best option is to look up insurance companies in the yellow pages and just start calling around and getting quotes. Make sure you are comparing the same coverages at each place, then pick the one who gives you the best quote. I hear that State Farm gives good student discounts, but I'm not sure if that applies only to high school students or if college students are included as well. You may want to check them out.
