You contact all of the insruance companies, and you negotiate a really low rate for any business that they send your way. One of the body shops I insure, is a Progressive referral shop, and they bill Progressive $20 an hour for labor.

If you are starting a shop then you can buy a package shop insurance policy which will include practically all the covers you need (and some you don't as the policies are designed to cover anything from florists to off-licences) - you can select the ones you want on a 'mix and match' basis but your broker will tell you what each section of the policy covers.

I would avoid any internet policy as A) you won't get any personal service from the company B) If anything goes wrong you have only yourself to blame and C) The cover is worse as it is price orientated.

The only thing to watch out for is if you make your sweets yourself - then you must ensure you have products liability included.
