You only need insurance, if someone sues you. What would they sue you for? All I can think of, is if someone slips on some poo you missed, and falls and hurts themself.

I think you're probably better off talking to a lawyer, and setting up your business under a corporation, so they can't GET anything.

Do you have permanent locations in these other states? Are the vehicles GARAGED (kept) in the other states?

If you do, the option is yours, but your commercial auto policy will have to reflect every state that you have vehicles registered and garaged.

We Answered:

I agree the two most important insurances are liability (it may be called a bond in NC-your insurance agent will know) and worker's comp. Call around to all the insurance agencies to get quotes on the liability insurance so you get the best price...it can vary!

A suggestion-if you are just starting out, I would begin either solo or with only one employee, then as business grows, add more...unless you already have many accounts lined up. It is time consuming and can be problematic when you have multiple employees and it's best to learn your business and have established clients before you add that factor.
