Betty Said:

are there any insurance companies offering the minimum $200000 liability to Ontario residents?

We Answered:

$200,000 is actually pretty crappy coverage. Think about it. You have an accident, and it is your fault, a young doctor with a family is killed, that is nowhere near enough coverage. It sounds like a lot of money, but it isn't. How about another example. Your brakes fail at an intersection, you run into a $100,000 motor home which loses control, rams into a 7-Eleven, and it burns down. $200,000 won't cover that either. There is a girl in BC paying out of every paycheque for the rest of her life for a $3,000,000 liability suit. She had the oppportunity to buy more than the basic coverage, she didn't, and ended up being at fault in a major accident, and in the middle of court action involving 2 insurance companies.

I never drive a vehicle with less than $1,000,000 liability coverage.

Ivan Said:

I need a rough estimate on renter's liability insurance?

We Answered:

There is not enough information to give a quote. Unfortunately, every policy is different and is rated on many factors, the very least of which is location and construction of the home.

In the suburbs of Milwaukee, WI a renter's policy for a frame, 1-2 story dwelling, with $100,000 liability and $30,000 in contents, no viscous dogs would run somewhere between $110 to $120 a year. Those are minimum premiums.

Keep in mind that this will vary regionally, so if you revise your question to pin down a location, maybe a local agent can give you a better idea.

By the way, I've never seen a renter's policy with property and no liability in Wisconsin.

Jim Said:

What is the lowest, best Liability auto Insurance in California ?

We Answered:

Wow! If you think comparing rates online and not talking with a licensed expert is the way to go, more power to you.

There is no such thing as "the lowest, best liability auto insurance". That is different for every individual. It completely depends on your credit (and they don't run that for online quotes), your driver record (also not ran for online quotes), your age, the different coverages you choose (which, without the education or license, you have no idea what you're choosing and how it will affect you when you have a claim).

Many quotes you get online are mostly temporary quote estimates and once the policy is written, then renewed, you'll see what the real premium will be.

I hope you never have a claim, but if you do, good luck handling it online without one of those "pushy insurance agents".

Has anyone gotten liability insurance for a wedding through Wedsafe? Are they a reputable company?

We Answered:

I did an AM Best check, and there's no insurance company called "wedsafe". They're probably an agency.

Check with your local BBB, and before you buy, check the ratings of the insurance companies that will be issuing the policies.

Lester Said:

How much more is Comprehensive insurance than Liability insurance?

We Answered:

You can probably figure that, depending on the vehicle you are choosing to insure, the rate will almost certainly double to triple.

I would strongly recommend that, unless you've got tons of money laying around, that you get an old beater car until you've been driving for three years. At that point, most companies will start cutting you some breaks. In California, you are legally required to get a 20% discount if you have less than two points on your record.

To help you keep the rate down, get good grades (3.0 or better), don't get any tickets, and try to get in with Mom and Dad's company (assuming you live with them). You can have your own bill while still getting some of the benefits (multi-car, homeowner's discounts, etc.). Also, check and see if your company gives a discount if you take an in-house safety course.
