Only Bush is "above" the law -- because he has manipulated to system to get complete immunity.

Other people can EVADE the law -- mainly because they have enough money or connections to abuse the system.

Sometimes it's a matter of corruption, as you point out. Sometimes, we simply choose not to allocate enough resources to prosecute all the lawbreakers, as you point out.

My statement that "nobody is above the law" reflects the way the laws are written, and the ideal that should follow under a system where we are ruled by laws. Sadly, we often fall short of that ideal.

I'm a US citizen, been one all my life. It took me 8 months to renew my passport, and two full days at the DMV to get my driver's license transferred between states -- all because I have moved more than the "expected" number of times (all inside the US). So, I know all about the problems of having to prove my legal status over and over again.

Yes, the system is broken. It's not right, and it's not good -- but sadly it's reality.

There's a pretty good book out there about marketing (in general) titled "Guerilla Marketing" by Jay Conrad Levinson or How to Drive Your Competition Crazy by Guy Kawasaki.

Both are pretty good and give you some pretty good ideas.

Call 1-800-WEINSURE. Ask for Patrick or Dick and tell them you want to check on their program. Pretty slick and it WILL make your phone ring.

Next - network. Join the Chamber, get out and about and everyone gets a business card.

Try your local "want ad papers" like Thrifty Nickel or whatever. Run some ads in "the readers" - not display ads. CHEAP CAR INSURANCE and your phone number.

Join your agent association in your area - either PIA or Big I and go to conventions or insurance Expos. Even go to events in other States. I have been going to the Insurance Expo in Atlanta for the past 10-12 years and ALWAYS come back with SOMETHING!

Give everyone of your customers several of your cards. Write THEIR name on the back and have them give them to their friends and have their friends come to your office for for quotes. When they come in with the card, put the card in a box and every quarter, give away a color TV or something nice. Take pictures of you giving the winner the remote control, hang the picture somewhere prominent and do the same thing over again.

I don't believe that. Frankly, the only employers that provide FREE full insurance to everyone, that I've ever seen, are public school districts or municipalities - and not many of those any more, either.

BUT. The average family plan costs $1200 per month, per employee. So, that's an extra $14,400 PER EMPLOYEE of cost. It goes up every year. If he was paying the full cost last year, though, then the fact that he insures them fully this year isn't what made him lay them off - clearly, there are OTHER financial issues with his business.

what type of insurance are you selling? I also sold insurance for a long time and cold calling was never a hit. you have to be creative and cheap and get your name out and list on and place possible. There are so many free places. you could print postcards yourself and do you get leads from the company or do you have to buy them? do door hangers ect. Once I know your type of insurance you are selling I will be glad to give you more help.
