Commercial Vehicle Insurance Company

Samuel Said:

Is this insurance company jerking me around?

We Answered:

The insurance company has millions of policies.

With out the name of their policy holder or the complete policy number -- they can't locate the policy for the vehicle involved.

The insurance company can't search by drivers license nor license plate. Most systems can be searched by their policy holders name (which you don't have) or complete policy number (which you also don't have). Can't search by a license plate or a drivers license.

It's ok to exchange info....but you screwed up. You should have gotten the year, make, model, plate number, vin of the car and the owner/driver name, address, phone number.

This is not the insurance company jerking you around. It's you screwed up and did not get enough information.

Now...call the cops. See if they will take a police report. They may be able to run the plate and come up with a vehicle owners name. Sometimes they can get insurance information- sometimes not. Depends on your state law. If the cops can't run the plate....you will have to file with your company to get your car fixed.

Or...since it happened at work...if you see the vehicle and the driver again....stop and get his complete information. If you see just the car, how about leaving a note on it asking the guy to call you.

It's not what you want to hear...but this mess is your fault. Can't blame this on the insurance company.
