Ricky Said:

Should pharmaceutical companies be allowed to advertise on TV?

We Answered:

I totally agree. I worked for a primary care physician. When the drug reps would come, they let us pick out food from any restaurant in town, sometimes spending $200+ on our meals. She or he would then sit down with the doc and talk about how wonderful their product was and give free samples for the patients. within the same week, the doc was prescribing these drugs to the patients. The whole waiting area and bathroom were one big advertisement for drugs!!

Why has nobody considered the case for simply banning insurance entirely?

We Answered:

You have the WRONG idea of what insurance IS... and MOST people have fallen prey to this erroneous concept along with you.

Insurance is PURELY a BETTING man's game. The insurance company is betting the premium they charge you that you will NOT get sick, or have an accident, or die, or whatever is being insured against. YOU, on the other hand, are betting that same premium that YOU WILL, and they will need to "pay out."

It is NOT some sort of REIMBURSEMENT program, nor a "savings" program.

This SAME LOGIC has weaseled its way into the AUTO INSURANCE industry, which is why most states mandate auto insurance. Has requiring EVERYONE to have auto insurance HELPED keep insurance premiums down, or repair costs down, or accidents down, or lawsuits down? NO! What HAS kept it at least somewhat competitive is that insurance companies can SPREAD their risk over MANY states... they are ALLOWED to sell auto insurance "across" state lines. But they cannot do that with MEDICAL insurance. But still, auto insurance is a mess because of the gooberment's (and people's) ideas of "fairness."

Auto insurance guarantees that NO one has to PAY when they get into an accident. EVERYTHING and EVERYONE is COVERED! Isn't that NICE? Isn't that FAIR? Auto insurance has become a "reimbursement" program. YOU get into an accident, pay the first $500 in damage, and your car gets repaired via the insurance.

Don't you SEE that they want to do the SAME THING with MEDICAL insurance? Insurance covers EVERYTHING, and pays EVERYONE. It is a REIMBURSEMENT program.

I am, and always have been, for GETTING RID of MANDATED AUTO INSURANCE. And, therefore, I am totally against MANDATED MEDICAL INSURANCE.

What next? Mandatory LIFE insurance? SURE! Why NOT? You DIE, your beneficiaries get paid, and YOU get buried (or cremated).

What about mandatory HOME OWNERS/Renters insurance? That sounds ultimately logical! If you own a house, VOILA! You're COVERED! NO risks! Your house is repaired, your Uncle Sal who slipped in the ice in your driveway is covered, your valuables are paid for when you are robbed! Instant satisfaction! NO ONE LOSES!

Can't ANYONE see the IMPRACTICALITY of ALL THIS???

Please choose one Which of the following has not yet been empirically established as?

Ha-ha looks like you cannot be bothered to do the reading and studying for an exam. That is terribly lazy. Review your class notes and read your textbook. That is how you really learn.

Paul Said:

Where should I get insurance for my photographic equipment?

We Answered:

There are commercial property policies (CPP) available through most independent agents. The situation that you will face is that a CPP will probably cost you as much as a full blown photographers business owners policy (BOP) if you have nice equipment. My advice is to take the BOP with the frills. Then, if you need the coverage for other types of claims, you will have it.
