Commercial Burglary-Legal Help Wanted?

We Answered:

You should hire a lawyer and sue the landlord. It sounds like the landlord was negligent in not securing the property against theft and burglary.

Im sure your landlord's policy should cover his negligence. Its not foreseeable as a tenant that someone would break into your unit through a wall, but it is foreseeable as a landlord, that if you leave the unit next door unlocked, someone could use that as a way to go through the ceiling or wall to burglarize a unit next door.

Get an alarm system and buy theft insurance.

qualified legal help!!!?

We Answered:

In the state of texas, people are caniving when it comes to leases. But i would definetly say you do have a case to fight for. After all it wasn't your fault and your landlord has to make sure that your "unit" is liveable and that goes for the walls and for HIS NEGLIGENCE in leaving his door unlocked and possibly putting everyone at risk if not you for that matter which it did. You should read through your lease thoroughly and understand it by "your understanding". I suggest you talk with an attorney there in your state and county. I hope i helped some.
