Commercial Insurance Job

Bradley Said:

Painters spilled paint on the roof of the house, replaced some shingles, now it looks like a patch job...?

We Answered:

Though you're not happy with the repair I doubt very much that you'd be entitled to getting the entire side of the roof re-done...

A good roofer/carpenter can replace the shingles that the painter mucked up and make it look like it was never a problem, provided the shingle color can be matched.

If color match isn't perfect, a color in close proximity to the original wouldn't be seen from the ground.

Once the repair is done properly, charge it back to the painting contractor.

I got a new job, but it doesn't offer insurance right now. What should I do?

Most group policies require you to be working full time to qualify for the benefits. Some will let you stay on the policy as long as you pay the premium. As a part time employee you might be able to work out a deal with your current company but I would be surprised that they'd pay the premium and deductible for you.

Call an independent agent in your area to find out what your other options are. You might be able to get on a high deductible plan for less than your current premium. Don't be afraid of a higher deductible at your age. The deductible on most policies comes into play only if you go into the hospital; you still get doctor visits and prescriptions for the co-pay. The independent agent will be able to compare your current policy with the individual plans and explain any differences in benefits.
