You are looking at a very profitable business if you line yourself up with the right people and pick the niche of the business you will be most comfortable in. I have been in the Courier business for more than 18 years and have seen it all. The main issues in today's business environment are getting good customers and keeping your fuel costs under control. You have a van, but who needs it? Do you want to work for a local or National Company? How many hours will you be available?

Cyclists are basically like motorists. We do the same bone headed mistakes.
Motorists need to understand that they are driving a 2000+ pound car and it is VERY dangerous if they aren't aware of their surroundings.
Motorists are just soo caught up with their cell phones and gps systems they can easily clip off a cyclist without even knowing.

#7 Cyclist yell may seem rude and obnoxious at motorists because we simply don't have a loud !@# horn on their bikes compared to a car who has sound canceling cars who have a 2161 or w/e watt surround sound system.. It's a 2000+ pound vehicle vs. a 200pound person who's only protection is a helmet. You have to respect them as a motorist and a pedestrian.

#1 We cyclist would be happy for you and everyone to help build us a good transportation pathway.

#6 Very agreeable but you have to realize that cities are now built for cars. And it's just better for a cyclist to take the streets the motorists use as it is VERY convenient.

And any negative comments..
A bike is just like a car. It's a machine for transportation and or for a competitive sport.
If you think we are idiots, we are just idiots like you. Why? It's the same reason why people drive 600hp+ vehicles and/or speeding over 100mph on a 60mph freeway zig zagging in and out of lanes dangerously.

A Santa Clara police sheriff in California killed TWO cyclists because he simply "fell asleep at the wheel". He fell ASLEEP AND CROSSED THE DOUBLE YELLOW LINE INTERSECTION DRIVING HEAD ON INTO THESE WORLD CLASS ELITE CYCLISTS.

Im in the same situation I also live in Houston Tx and also starting my own hot shot service. It is very profitable if you get the right jobs that will keep you busy and you keep them happy. I know from other people in the business that make very good money also. Hope everything works out great and dont give up!
