If the Feds can exempt "one" religious group, they can easily exempt others. It would seem each individual religion would need to file a law suit and earn such exemption. Could the Catholics get one ?

The HO-# policies can be confusing to non-insurance people. There are some many variations to the policies between the states and companies. This often leads to bad information provided by people that do not truly understand insurance.

It is a good idea to purchase your insurance through an agent instead of a website if you don't understand insurance. The agent can get the information from you about what needs to be covered, and explain policy provisions to you. (If your agent cannot, find a new agent.)

Well, in Massachusetts, the auto insurance rates are set by the state. So you see commercials for companies that don't want to write insurance in MA, because it's a nasty state to write auto insurance in - you can't get out, you can't cancel someone for their driving record, and you can't refuse to write someone, either - so it's hard to make money.


ANYWAY. The rates are all set by the state, BUT, if you're a member of a group, like a credit union, you can get a "group discount" which last I checked was about 5%. All groups get the same discount, and a credit union is the easiest group to join. And the cheapest.

So no, you're rate ISN'T high, it's set by the state. You could call every one of the 7 companies that writes auto in MA, and for the exact same coverages, you'll pay the exact same price.

I used to work for a clinic called Cherokee Health Systems. They have offices all over tennessee... but i'm not sure how close they would be to you. They go by income..most of the patients only paid 15 dollars to 30 dollars per office visit. Plus they have a pharmacy where the meds are ALOT lower. They are run from government grants so can offer the community lower costs. Here is their main office number they should be able to tell you if there is one close to where you live and if not they might be able to help you find a charity clinic like them that is close.
