Reprimanding for talking too much?

We Answered:

Say to her:

"I have noticed, and it has been brought to my attention by others, that you have been disrupting the work flow. There have been complaints that you interject comments into conversations of which you are not a party; and you disturb others with interruptions when they are trying to concentrate on their work. I don't believe the behavior is malicious or intentional; but the effect is profound, nonetheless. I must ask you to curb your interruptions of your fellow employees and to remain on the sidelines of conversations that do not involve you."

Rudeness doesn't have to enter into it. This can be done with a gentle, nonreprimanding tone; but she must know that you are serious. You are the Customer Service Manager. That means you must manage. That usually means managing people. Often in unpleasant ways. This is one those times.

Help. Looking to purchase Real Estate E&O insurance by the deal. Calif. Brokerage company. Know any vendors?

We Answered:

Why? It's going to cost just the same as buying it by the year. At least, if you wanted to buy it from me, I'd charge a minimum premium of $2500 a pop, to cover admin expenses & "hassle factor".

Also, the down side to buying it by the deal - you'll have to purchase it BEFORE the deal goes through. E&O is always on a claims made basis, and does NOT cover prior acts. If the deal doesn't go through, you've paid for it anyway. AND.

If you don't want to buy it before the deal closes, what happens next year when someone sues you for a deal that didn't go through, because (they claim) you messed up or misrepresented something, or were discrimatory in the way you were showing the property? NO COVERAGE!!

By the deal might sound like a way for you to save money, but it's a dumb idea. If you still want to buy it that way anyway, just let me know!! I'll make you sign off first, to cover MY E&O, that it's against my recommendations.

I Would like to open a new Insurance Agency in NJ?

We Answered:

The more you sell, product wise, the fewer customers you have to turn away.

There's no square footage minimum for opening an agency. Your biggest problem will be finding a carrier willing to appoint you.

Quick! What do I need to know for a job interview with an "insurance brokerage"?

We Answered:

I feel your pain...I went from 6 years in the wedding industry to commercial insurance at an independent agency. They'll have a computer system that stores all of their policy information, documentation and daily activities that you'll have to learn to use. I do the customer service or "maintanence" on the accounts so I have to be constomer friendly, detailed (this one is huge cuz people like to sue insurance companies) and quick learning. You'll also have to get licensed before you can actually talk to any insured about their policies so you should know if you're going to be paying for those classes and tests or if they will be. My agency paid for all my classes, tests, wages and expenses when I took mine. They also pay for the continued education credits you need to do every year to keep your licenses as they renew every 2 years. So you could throw in there that you're comfortable in a class setting and comfortable with tests. And you like to learn things cuz trust me, you'll learn something new every day! Feel free to email me thru this if you have any other questions! Good luck!

Annual Salary for having CPCU Licensing in Insurance?

We Answered:

I don't think that designation gets you any extra money. What it gets you is preferential treatment - if the choice is between someone with a cpcu, and someone without it, everything else being equal, the cpcu guy gets the job.

Discuss It!
