That's interesting....but I highly doubt that it's true. Companies offer therapy and counseling services through third party Employee Assistance Programs specifically for that reason. That is private information and of no right to the employer to be in the middle of. However, I am not sure if there are different stipulations for certain professions based on having accountablility for others safety, i.e. flying a plane! So, although 99% of the time that information is private, there may be a slight chance that her EAP would have to provide her employer with her mental assessment if it would cause harm to others. Make sense? Try to google EAP law or something that tells you if it's legal or not.

There are lots of aviation insurance companies available and the prices do vary some. AVEMCO is one of the larger insurance companies for aircraft, they are a DIRECT sale so you can call them or go on the website and ask what the coverage would cost you. http://www.avemco.com/ The cost will be based on the aircraft and your hours and the amount of hull coverage you need. The amount of the deductables also has an impact on the price just as with auto or home insurance.

Other good aviation companies sell through brokers, there are many of those as well, once you pick a broker that broker can get quotes for you but be careful as that may tie you to that insurance broker. Travers insurance http://www.traversaviation.com/ and AOPAAI http://www.aopaia.com/ are both very good at their jobs.

Just be sure to get the coverage you really NEED. Don't underinsure the aircraft!

ADD - DO this before you BUY! See what the coverage will be on the aircraft you want first!
