You do realize, though, that this insurance isn't CHEAP. And it takes a little while to get into place. AND, it's probably going to cost darned close to the same amount for an annual policy, as a "one shot" rental.

How much it costs, is going to depend on where and how the equipment is being used and rented (on a helicopter? on a set? chasing tornados?) but pricing usually starts around $2500 for a very basic coverage (no over water, no helicopter, not out of the state, no music videos, etc) and goes up from there.

You need a local, independent agent - because you can't buy this without an agent, and you need to use an agent that has a license in the state you operate in. There aren't many companies that write this type of coverage - you'll need a specialist. You'll have to call around a bit, as you didn't list your state here.

But I can't really argue with any of that. Except that government programs like that don't really "go broke" because they have virtually unlimited cash flows. Just inflate/devalue the currency and all our problems are solved... er... well... uh...

I doubt whether anyone here will know what kind of insurance your taxi company furnishes. I would get more info from them and then speak with an insurance agent to see if you are covered or need to buy something else.
