1. He is more than likely just another American domestic short hair. Unless you get a cat from a cattery, you can never be sure what breed it is.

2. All sounds well. Food bowl. Water bowl. Litter box. Those are the essentials. Nothing else is necessary. Put him in the litter box. He'll catch on.

3. Scoop the box at least once a day. And top off with fresh litter.

4. Laser pointer. Dogs and cats can't resist chasing the red dot.

5. No. They don't chew on tags. Especially metal ones. When you take him in to be neutered, see about a RFID chip. Microchips are pretty cheap.

6. It just takes time. I had the worst allergy to cats you ever saw but once I got my cat, I built up a tolerance pretty quickly. It's called desensitization. I had to occasionally use benadryl for the first couple of months.

7. You didn't ask this but you need to start getting your cat accustomed to having his nails clipped.
