unfortunately it's quite the opposite.

literally every private health insurance policy will include the following words:

"this is not a guarantee of coverage or benefit or payment..."

most insurances allow a procedure to be completed before they decide that what your doctor prescribed for your treatment wouldn't be paid - thereby leaving the patient holding the responsibility for the payment.

this is why over 70% of the bankruptcies for medical expenses were filed by people WITH health insurance.

Americans have been dissing Canada for decades, so we are very much used to it. I hope, for their sake, that the reforms that Obama is proposing come into being. It will make them a better and more prosperous nation.

Edited to H2... Do you know those two people? How do you know that they were not just actors posing as Canadians and telling false stories. The American media is famous for producing false ads, especially when they are paid for by opposing political parties trying to discredit the the other.

Your average Republican voter has absolutely no idea what Obama is proposing because they listen to FOX and other neo-con networks that keep repeating the same half truths.

I'd like it if America had a Canadian system. I'd like it even more if it had a British system. An all encompassing health care system open to both rich and poor alike. However, that' not going to happen.

People think that Obama is a socialist, but he isn't. I've lived under a socialist government. I've even lived under a communist regime. And compared to them Obama is a center right Capitalist. He's not even a pimple on the bottom of a socialist, let alone an actual socialist. Canadian and European leaders make Obama look like a neo-conservative.

People think that he wants a federal health care system because they listen to stupid anti-socialist propaganda set out by the neo-con networks, and aren't bright enough to see how wrong it is.

The Plans you mentioned may pay for services that our "Universal Health Care" may not cover, such as:
-Ambulance Costs
-Some Prescriptions that may be more expensive than govt plan will pay
-Eye Glass Prescriptions
-Transportation to get home from a foreign country if you get sick there
-Dental Care (which is not part of our govt plan)
-short or long term disability insurance
-private hospital rooms

I am very happy with my health coverage in Canada. No there is no movement to change the system. No co-payments or deductibles.I have never had to wait for any treatment. My prescriptions are mostly covered through my provincial drug plan.I do pay for dental but it is reasonable, I usually spend about $200/year on dental. I have had elective surgery and it was immediate and covered.I have never had a medical bill ever.My daughter was born weighing 1 1/2 lbs and spent 15weeks in the hospital plus had 2 years follow up care and all it cost me was my parking at the hospital.Plus she was cared for at one of the country's best hospitals.
Horror stories about our system are just that - stories.
