Commercial insurance in California?

We Answered:

Farmers is a captive, last I checked. You're going to cancel your Farmers contract to go independent?

What size book do you have to roll over, and what's the loss ratio?

You're not likely to get an appointment with six months under your belt, unless you have a million dollar book to roll. You're better off just going to a wholesaler. But you might not be able to do that while keeping your Farmer's contract valid.

That's the major drawback of being a captive agent . . . if you can't write it with that one carrier, you can't write it.

Talk to your underwriter.

Anything anyone wants you to do, your underwriter is the best source on how to get it done.

There's way too much to post here!!

Arlene Said:

re commercial liability insurance?

We Answered:

The only two types of insurance which is mandatory (that I've ever heard of) by law is Automobile Insurance and Workers Compensation (if you have employees). No other type of liability insurance is required by law, however you would be a fool to operate a business without proper commercial general liability.
