There are several types of insurance licenses - the lines you mention all fall under property/casualty. You have to pass a test and pay a fee. Once you do that, any agency would hire you on, on a straight commission basis.

First you study - anywhere from two weeks to a month should be fine. Then you take the test, then within a couple weeks your license should be mailed to you, if you pass the test.

Right. Not all insurance companies write ALL kinds of businesses. Depending on your type of business, If you don't have three years of prior insurance coverage with no lapse, MOST standard companies flat out won't write you.

You can't buy this directly - you HAVE to use an agent. You'll have to call a few local agents, local to YOU, to get some quotes.

Marketing, marketing, marketing. Start with having someone bring nail files, calendars, notepads, whatever, imprinted with your company contact info, to all the local agencies in your area.

You'll need to show them that you're licensed and insured, and bonded with the state if it's required in CA.

But it's just lots and lots of marketing - which is in-person visits by SOMEONE, asking for business, to local agents.

What I currently have is AmeriPlan USA... I started off with one of their plans... liked it used it.. and then found out I could tell others about it and get a commission off of it as well! so I thought why not!.. so you can check them out at ameriplanusa.com.. they have been around for 16 years..and are a discount for a service health benefits company.. so it's not like normal insurance where you wait forever.. and only have limited visits where you pay 50 dollars a time. you can use it as much as you like, as often as you like or as little as you like. The price is right.. just a dental plan is $19.95 a month, Basic health is 30 per month per household..and total health is 40 a month per household..and that includes medical dental, vision, prescription drugs, chiropractic, lab work, braces... everything health related. even cosmetic surgery you get discounts on!

I have 2 kids under two.. and they get ear infections about once a month. so what I do is..every time they go to the doctor..with ameriplan they give you 40-60% off the visit.. then you get 25-50% off the prescriptions.. and one visit is less than the normal monthly ins. premium for a family of 4.
you can also go to any hospital of your choice..and anything over $2500, ameriplan has a advocate work with the hospital and gets that bill lowered for you as much as possible.. (usually over 50% off).. and then you can pay off that bill interest free over the next 1-4 years.. (that's what I did when I had a baby 6 months ago...)

You are taking responsibility because YOU are signing the initial contract for work. Then you are subbing in window cleaners to do the work under your own agreement. You will most likely need trades insurance which can be picked up for about 500-1000 if you shop around. This will give you 2 mil in liability which should be enough.

Some advice from me is why don't you just find people who have experience cleaning windows, and get them to do the work under your own window cleaning company. The responsibility is the same, and profits will be higher. Good luck!
