Business Liability Insurance Policy

Karl Said:

Can I cover subcontractors with liability and bonding insurance?

We Answered:

Any uninsured subcontractor you hire, WILL be covered under your general liability policy - and the premium will be charged, based on the full amount you pay them, when your policy gets audited - and it WILL get audited.

You're ALSO "on the hook" for any workers compensation benefits, if you have an uninsured subcontractor working for you - even if you don't buy workers comp insurance.

Generally, though, the bonding doesn't extend to subcontractors - only EMPLOYEES.

How much commission does an insurance salesman make on a typical business policy?

We Answered:

5% on comp. 10%-15% on everything else. The premium depends on the exposure rating basis.
A 1000 square foot office spends between 500 and 2000 dollars per year. A trucking company with 20 big trucks spend 200k per year. The bigger the better.

Question about liability insurance in business?

We Answered:

Unfortunately without knowing where you are it is impossible to even approximate the cost. Some jurisdictions may require you to carry a Garage Policy (which cover vehicles owned and non-owned by the garage) in addition to a Commercial General Liability policy (which cover the premises and operations).
Also without a description of the particular operation (i.e. members only?; how many bays?; any hydraulic lifts?; who supervises?; any welding? painting? fuel tank work?), a description of the facilities, and details about how the club works (can vehicles be left overnight?) it would not even possible to hazard a guess.

We Answered:

Depends on what type of business you have, but Farmers Insurance has great markets for business insurance.
