How much does General Liability Insurance Cost?

We Answered:

Probably around $750 a year, if you don't do any exterior or roofing.

How I can get general liability & transportation insurance for a small concierge/errands biz?

We Answered:

You go to a local, independent agent, and have them shop it out.

You need general liability insurance, and commercial auto insurance. BUT. That commercial auto insurance, bringing people to appointments - is very, very, VERY expensive - like in excess of $10,000 a year. The general liability will probably run you around $1200 a year.

There's no such thing as "nonskilled medical care" provider.

What you're doing, is transporting people for a fee, like a limo, as far as the car insurance goes. On the general liability, it's probably going to be rated based on the projects that you help with - whatever the MOST expensive class code is, is what you need.

If you go to a State Farm, Nationwide, Allstate kinda direct writer agent, they won't be able to help you. You need an agent that can access Lloyds of London and other excess markets.

Is there a web link that provides Business Insurance for a minimum of $1M General Liability,Workers Comp, E+O?

We Answered:

While you might be able to find a website to help you -- which I highly doubt because of the combination of policies that you need -- I would definitely not even try to buy this online since you need the type of expertise and service a website cannot offer you.

A good agent will offer to review your lease and major contracts to make sure your insurance program meets the requirements usually contained therein. A good agent will shop more than one company so that they can determine what the best coverage and premium is for you. Also in terms of the E & O since this is usually a claims made policy there are numerous coverage issues that can vary significantly from company to company, i.e. is defense in or outside of the limit, etc. A good agent will also recommend a Commercial Umbrella or Excess Policy which also varies by company.

To re-cap buying Commercial Insurance off a website is akin to becoming your own surgeon -- I'd think twice on it!

Call your CPA, Banker or check this website http://www.iiaba.net/agentlocator/findag… for Agents in your community who specialize in Commercial Insurance. Then take the time to interview at least two and choose the one you feel most comfortable with.

I hope this helps. Good Luck!
