We Answered:

They'll want a completed application and money.

Paul Said:

My Homeowners insurance requested my Certificate of Insurance from my Business General Liability. Why? Legal?

We Answered:

They are probably trying to find out if you are running a business from your home and they are trying to clarify what risk they will include in your HO policy and what is being covered by your CGL policy. They don't want to duplicate coverage and they certain don't want to pay if they can find some other policy to pay.

Nora Said:

How do I get general liability ins. for a business ?

We Answered:

Well, in California, you would probably be classified as some type of Artisan contractor. Probably in the lines of a cabinet maker/carpentry.

Please check with an INDEPENDENT agent who has access to many carriers and is familiar with business insurance. Captive agents (like Farmers, State Farm, Allstate) can only sell for their own company and they don't have access or the knowledge of the various coverages for a specialized risk. This is not difficult to classify and you should be able to get a quote fairly easy.

Question on business general liability policy?

We Answered:

First person you should address this question to is your agent.
It might not make any difference in the type, amount of policy in either case- people or no people there.

But, if it does matter, an argument could be made that -- you agree to arrive after the "normal" closing time. If employees work later than normal,
I'd think you'd be ok.

But, that's not the same as "arriving early". Since you made a specific point of it in signing up for the policy, you probably should adhere to it. At least until you get clarity from your agt.

Leonard Said:

What insurance companies offer business general liability for personal trainers ? ?

We Answered:

Most surplus lines companies should do this - it's not the GENERAL liability that's the big risk, it's the PROFESSIONAL liability.

Having said that, you can't buy it directly - you'll need to go to an independent agent, and have them go to their wholesaler with an application, and put this out to market.

It's not something you can buy directly. Sorry.
